Home to Holly Springs by Jan Karon 10/31/07
I went to Barnes and Nobles at lunch yesterday and bought this book. I didn’t know it was out yet! It was all I could do not to read it at work when I should have been working.
In some ways, it was good to re-visit Father Tim and Barnabas. There were too many loose ends tied up in one book, I think, to be believable.
So, Fr. Tim goes home to Holly Springs, MS which is where he was born and raised. He’s 70 in the book, so he would have been born in 1937. Interspersed with the present were Fr. Tim’s memories from his childhood and early adulthood. That was kind of weird because it wasn’t necessarily clear for a bit that the time had shifted.
I read this quickly so I could find out what happens, but I’m going to have to read it again at some point to see what I’ve missed.
